Yes, science always evolves, and advice on some foods and nutrition more broadly does flip-flop (often because there isn’t enough high-quality research). But there are now many studies — literally hundreds — linking alcohol to higher risk of various ills, including cancers, heart disease and dementia. None prove cause-effect, but the body of work has become convincing, in my view. Each of us can do what we wish with this information, of course.
