This article does not state that chronic pain sufferers are “victims of their own making” or are weak. In fact, the article makes clear that many who suffer chronic pain develop, amazingly, a positive attitude that helps them get through. The article does discuss the still-puzzling fact that chronic pain can become, unfortunately, a “memory” that continues to afflict even if/when an original injury is no longer the source of the pain. And yes, some people are more prone to developing chronic pain. Figuring how and why that happens could help develop cures.
