Push-ups aren’t for everyone, it’s fair to say. I love running but it hurts nowadays, so I don’t. Discovering push-ups gave me something to zero in on, set goals that I’d never had, and accomplish things the younger me never tried. If I couldn’t do push-ups, I’d probably set goals around planks, or crunches, or curls, or whatever. An 81-year-old powerlifter and planker I wrote about recently (https://medium.com/luminate/exercise-advice-from-a-powerlifting-planking-81-year-old-4a65aa7950a2) helped me realize it’s less about what we do, so long as we do something, and ideally we do something new, so we can experience the joy of progress and personal bests, no matter our age. Joe, I hope you find your thing!
