One way to avoid the need to urinate in the middle of the night is to stop eating and drinking at least 3 hours before bedtime. But it's also possible that underlying issues are a problem (you mention sleep apnea or GERD in your other comment). For some people who struggle with sleep (including difficulty going back to sleep after waking up to pee) the first step toward improvement is getting help from physician to address the underlying health issue(s).
