I'm not aware of any special interest group that benefits. DST's origins date back to WWI, when it was instituted as a way to save fuel and extend the workday for the sake of the war effort. Been some changes since but energy savings were part of the motivation. Thing is, there's no evidence it actually saves energy. Since you and another reader brought this up, I added a line in the story just now about the lack of energy savings.
