It’s easy to say “I’m quitting.” It’s much harder to actually opt out for good.
Millions of people, including several celebrities with large followings, have either quit Twitter or announced they are leaving the social media site since it was taken over by Elon Musk and thousands of employees were fired.
“Welp. It’s been fun Twitter. I’m out,” the singer Sara Bareilles tweeted one apparent last time to her 2.8 million followers on Oct. 29. “See you on other platforms, peeps. Sorry, this one’s just not for me.”
How many celebs and other folks stay out or firm up their decision to leave for good may depend on, among other things, how Musk runs the platform moving forward. But one factor will surely be at play for many people aiming to kick a long-time habit: Resolve.
