Are bikers less than human? Some drivers think so. Given the many responses to this story, and mentions of car-driver attitudes toward bikers (e or otherwise), I thought I'd mention this tidbit from a story I wrote several years ago: "...many drivers have negative views of bikers overall. In a March 2019 study from the Institute of Transport Studies at Monash University, researchers asked men and women to do different tasks, including to rate on a scale of 1 to 7 (1 being not at all and 7 being extremely so) how much they agreed with certain statements like, “I feel like cyclists lack self-restraint, like an animal.” The findings showed that around 55% of people in the study who don’t ride bikes tended to rate cyclists as 'less than human.'" https://elemental.medium.com/whats-behind-the-rise-in-bike-fatalities-56a678a17a56
